Habitat quality and connectivity analysis for the San Martín titi monkey (Callicebus oenanthe), northeastern Peru
The critically endangered San Martín titi monkey (Callicebus oenanthe) was recently designated one of the 25 most endangered primates in the world by the IUCN. Land conversion has decimated most of its lowland forest habitat and it continues to be threatened by hunting and the pet trade. Proyecto Mono Tocón (http://www.monotocon.org/), a local non-profit organization, is working to gain a better understanding of the species' requirements, develop conservation areas for the species, and to educate the public. Working with Proyecto Mono Tocón, we are mapping remaining suitable habitat for C. oenanthe and determining which habitat patches may be most important for maintaining connectivity across the range of the species.
